Syracuse Labor Council Announces 2017 Award Winners

Dr. Dennis Nave, President of the The Greater Syracuse Labor Council, AFL-CIO today announced the winners of the 2017 Annual Labor Council Awards

 Friend of Labor Award: Kerin Rigney & Sam Young, Town of DeWitt Councilors

 Struggle of the Year Award:  The Verizon workers from Communication Workers of America (CWA) 1123 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 2213

 Activist of the Year Award: Nikki Tonas, CWA 1123

 Unsung Hero Award:  Kathy Zabinski, Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA)

 The Bernie DeJoseph Legend Award:  Richard Simone, Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers, (SMART) 58

 The Charley Bugnacki Community Service Award: Julie Searle, United Steel Workers    (USW)

 The recipients will receive their rewards at the Annual Greater Syracuse Labor Council Dinner, held this year at the ONCENTER Convention Center, Syracuse, NY on February 2, 2017
