Labor and Community in Solidarity for a Fair Budget!
Lee Conrad, Alliance@IBM/CWA Local 1701, President Broome-Tioga Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO
Over two-hundred people gathered in front of the State Office Building in Binghamton on March 15 to demand a fair budget for New York working families. Lee Conrad, President of Broome-Tioga Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, Binghamton Mayor Matthew T. Ryan, Binghamton Councilwoman Lea Webb, and many community members sent a clear message that giving millionaires a tax break and asking our school children, working families, and the people in our communities most in need of services to sacrifice was unacceptable. FOX 40 WICZ TV reports: "The main message the protesters were trying to get out: they're fed up."
Councilwoman Lea Webb is quoted in the FOX 40 story:
as is Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan talking about the revenue "left on the table," including "corporate taxes to the millionaire tax."
Among the union members visibly present were CSEA, CWA - Alliance@IBM Local 1701, GSA, and NABET - LIUNA (Laborers), NYSUT, PEF, SEIU 200United.
