Comment 07/17/08: I am a mediator with the New York State Employment Realtions Board. We work with private sector labor relations throughout the state. I wonder if it would be possible to subscribe to your ALF Newsletter and submit appropriate materials from time to time? Thanks for your consideration. -Bruce-

Comment 03/14/08: I was looking for the salary for a signmaker. I am a HMEO, so making signs (speed limit, stop signs, street signs) is out of title. Just wondering if there is a salary position for sign maker. -Ron Denka-

Comment 09/10/07: Listed in the Auburn area, my name is misspelled. Please fix it. I love the web page and would like to let my members have access to it. I'd like to put the address in our local newsletter. I was really impressed with the history section. Whoever did it, good for you. Most people do not have any knowledge of the beginnings of our struggle.
In Solidarity,
Gerri Cregg

CNYLabor Reply:
Gerri, Thanks for letting me know about the spelling; and thank you for the vote of confidence! Please feel free to add the address to your Local newsletter. I'm not the original webmaster; however, I have been updating the web site and adding things to it, on behalf of the CNY labor Fed, that are relevant to union members across NYS for about a year, now.
I'm glad that you like the site. Please let me know about any content you believe to be incorrect.
Also, I'd really appreciate any ideas you have for improving the site. Our number 1 challenge is to get this web site as much visibility to our union brothers and sisters as possible.

Comment 07/29/07: I visited the site to learn about any area organizing drives I could volunteer for. Also, any labor rallies that I can show support for. -Anonymous-
Comment 07/13/07: The Ithaca Teachers Association is currently recruiting for a representative to the labor coalition meetings. Summer is a challenging time to recruit but we hope that someone will be in place as a contact in the Fall. Congratulations on the website.

Comment 07/11/07: I'm infuriated by the union bashing I've been hearing on radio talk shows in particular. Where once it was only right wingers who were guilty of this garbage, lately I've heard even moderates & liberals blaming unions for everything from shoddy workmanship to the lack of jobs & outsourcing. Where are the PR people who will enlighten the public to the advantages of unions? We need a hard hitting campaign. Most of today's work force are too young to remember what conditions were before the unions made it possible for the average worker to live comfortably. Do Something!! -Anonymous-
CNYLabor Reply: Thank you for your comment. Union
bashing continues to thrive among the anti-union crowd; regardless of political party. You obviously know the truth and are willing to tell anyone as well. Union's PR people are their members, organizers and officers. There are many young people that lack the knowledge of the sacrifices made by their fathers-mothers, grand fathers-mothers and great grand fathers-mothers to establish workers rights. Those sacrifices included getting the word out through community events and membership organizing drives. That's the best way to do it, by far. When you attend your union's meeting; you have the opportunity to offer your help, your ideas, your time, and your perseverance to do something about the sad state that this country is in, regarding unions. Talk to your union brothers and sisters and come up with a goal and a plan to reach it. The union movement needs you and every single one of your union's members to organize. If not organizing; then "letters to the editor" of every newspaper you have access to. Write to your representatives in State and Federal offices. Put pressure on your local politicians to reject the union-busting that goes on illegally, all the time. Education is a HUGE piece of it. You are right. We need the hardest hitting campaign ever... because all the workers rights that were fought for and won; are being flushed down the sewer of "Globalism" and "Free Market" waste bins. CNYLabor needs you. Tell your friends and family about this web site. We can get dialog going here as a first step. Check out our Candidate Questionnaire responses (Questionnaires tab, front page). If you don't find what you're looking for, please ask us. We'll get it for you if at all possible. YOU make the difference. We ALL do.
